The cost of using a Solicitor is often a worry and it depends on what you need us to do. This is one of the first things which will be sorted out on receiving your instructions.  It is in both your and our interests that we are clear about costs before your case proceeds. Exact figures are not quoted here as charges vary depending on the nature of the task and disbursements. Fees to 3rd parties are outside our control.

You will not be committing yourself to a huge bill just by contacting us. We will be happy to provide a quote or guidance as to likely costs for your specific case before you commit yourself to instructing us.

Conveyancing

Buying a house or flat is a big decision and we are aware that it can cause a lot of stress.  We will be happy to give you a quote based on all the factors which effect your case.  Flats are often cheaper to buy but may present more complex problems than a house so feel free to ask us for a quote. There are certain standard costs which have to be paid in buying land. These are called by disbursements, they include things like National and Local Search Fees, Land Registration Fees, Money Transfer Fees and depending on purchase price Inland Revenue Stamp Duty.

Probate and Wills

Robin Price or his collegues Jan Smart or Gabriella Cuoghi will be happy to give you a quote for a will. Straight forward wills are currently aproximatly £100 and £150 for a married couple. They can also help you in regard to costs relating to probate or powers of attorney.

If the result is that you are eligible, if possible print the results page and bring it with you.  You will still need to complete forms but this calculator will atleast give you guidance that it is worth applying.

Childrens Cases, Matrimonial & Relationship Problems

This includes child care cases between individuals or involving social services, divorce and financial disputes following on from a separation or Divorce. Residence and contact disputes about children. Legal Help or other type of financial assistance with the cost of the case may be available and we will look at that at the first interview. If you are not eligible for help we will try to give you as clear as clear an idea of probable costs as we can and keep you updated as the case progresses. It is of course sometimes difficult to predict exact costs in advance because of the possibility of circumstances changing. The stance of your opponent will effect the cost as well. John Hounslow is a member of the Isle of Wight Duty Solicitor panel and can assist in criminal matters. If you have been charged let us know the next hearing date . If you have been asked to attend the Police Station please contact us as soon as possible.

Criminal Legal Aid is now means tested. Please have your means details available including your National Insurance Number and the details of any partner who may have to sign the forms as well.
